Sticking to the plan!

In my role as a coach, I come across a lot of different individuals daily and the one thing I see most is people not telling truth!!!

When anybody first contacts me to work with me, I will send them a health questionnaire that they must fill in before we have a consultation, in that questionnaire I ask the client to give me a food log for the last 3 days before we have our consultation and 8 times out 10 they lie!!!

Why is this??

Well the main reason in my opinion is that they think you are going to judge them. From my point of view as coach, I will NEVER judge anybody, my role is to help people, not judge him or her!

Lets talk about some of the reasons why people seek help in the first place:

  1. They are overweight

  2. Being overweight causes them a lot of health problems

  3. Being overweight causes them a lot of psychological problems

  4. Being overweight causes them to have anxiety

  5. Being overweight causes them to have low self esteem

  6. Being overweight causes them to have depression

In a recent review it was concluded obese people have 55% increased risk of developing depression over time and a depressed person has a 58% increased risk of becoming obese.

Now most of these people have been trying to lose weight for years but they have never succeeded, why would this be?

  1. They go from not training at all to training 5 days per week

  2. They make a drastic change in eating habits

  3. They want results fast

  4. They binge eat on a regular basis

  5. They give in to social pressure

So when most people come to me my main goal, as coach is to make them understand this is not an overnight process, it takes patience, understanding, consistency, hard work and dedication.

As coach its important to me that clients are honest at all times, unfortunately this doesn’t happens at times, which makes the desired goal a lot harder to achieve. This is mainly due to clients under reporting what they are eating and lying about their training!

Most of the time clients do very well during the weekdays but weekends everything goes to pot!
