WEIGHTS VS THE MIND

After a conversation I had with my best friend Naveed Muzaffar this morning I decided to write this post.

We used to train together a few years ago, we trained ridiculously hard, had some great sessions, however looking back now I believe we weren't training smart, we were just throwing weights about, yes we squatted a lot of weight, we deadlifted a load of weight, we did so many things that today I would consider stupid!!!!!

As the years go by and I study more and more its making me realise that we have to constantly be open minded if we want to improve in every aspect of our lives.

I am teaching him currently how to train in a smarter and more optimal way, which he is finding really hard, he just can't see past the hard training sessions we had back then and he is not enjoying the fact the weights now are 70% lower than back then, he feels he is going backwards but in fact he is moving forward because everything he is doing now has meaning and working on that will improve his overall physique.

The mind is the most powerful tool we have and can be the major limiting factor wether we become better or not.

Off course I didn't enjoy going from 140kg squat to 100kg squat or deadlifting 200kg to nothing at all, but 3 months down the line my body is looking better, I feel healthier and everything I do now has a meaning behind it, I am no longer just going in the gym throwing weights about for the sake of it!!!

As the title of this e-mail says WEIGHTS VS MIND, which one are you going to let win????

Think about your goals, think about what are you doing it for, is there a reason at all???

In life NEVER do stuff for the sake of just doing it, always ask yourself WHY AM I DOING THIS?
